Enhancing grass-roots activism

Our work has inspired and built a new breed of leaders

OUR COMMITMENT

Today, millions of people continue to live in extreme poverty, continue to suffer and die from preventable causes and rights of millions are abused. ICOD Action Network recognizes the importance of all human rights and their interrelatedness.

To achieve lasting change and ensure equity, we need a movement of people collaborating across regions, sectors and generations to tackle challenges and develop solutions. Together, we can create the change need at every level, from communities to global systems, to give all people the chance to leave a healthy and fulfilling life.

With two main Program areas in Southwestern Uganda and a new program area in Northeastern Uganda, ICOD Action Network is creating a movement of grassroots activists creating lasting change in their communities in ICOD Action Network's work extends beyond material support and touches upon the need to empower communities so that they can be able to sustain themselves. Our core values of the ICOD Action Network are deeply rooted in sustainability, human rights, justice, inclusiveness and participation, commitment, accountability and transparency

PERmaculture and information technology for farmers (support #techfarmers)

Since 2010, we have been partnering with Agricultural Co-ops in a permaculture and information-sharing program that provides free training in Permaculture and Information Technology to farmers and to elected "Information agents" from each group. The agents use their training to retrieve relevant information (focused on, but not limited, to agriculture - such as market access and prices, disease and pest control methods, weather patterns, etc) from the Internet center and post it in their respective villages for their communities to access at large. Thousands of farmers are now able design their own environments and build increasingly self-sufficient food production systems and regenerate the ecosystems that provide for their communities.
